RESOURCES|encouragement on your homeschooling journey
Take a look at this wonderful article over at Simply Charlotte Mason on the life habits that your children will acquire through exposure and engagement with a Charlotte Mason education. This is a beautiful explanation of the holistic qualities of making your education a way of life.
COMMON QUESTIONS| What Math curricula are you using at HCA?
This is a commonly asked question, and one that varies depending on the age of your child. Children in 1st and 2nd grade will, in general, be using the Charlotte Mason Elementary Arithmetic Series by Richele Baburina, and published by Simply Charlotte Mason. Children in 3rd grade will transition into Strayer Upton Math Book 1, and children in grades 4-12 will be offered Geometry courses, using a variety of texts as the grades progress. An integral aspect of Miss Mason's approach to math is that students see the beautiful overlap of arithmetic (and later algebra) with the study of geometry, as all math is wonderfully intertwined. To that end, students in grades 4-12 will be studying arithmetic (and later algebra) 2-3 days per week at home, and studying geometry 2 days each week at HCA. We would love to explain the Mason math approach more fully, so if you have any questions, please reach out via email.
